DREWE - Stevens
Our DREWE family settled in St. Kilda, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in 1852. Ellen Powell Drewe moved to Napier, New Zealand with her young family in 1860. They regularly returned to Australia to meet up with family. Prior to Australia the Drewe family were in Exeter, Devon for generations, and probably Wales before that (as confirmed by DNA).
DREWE is a less common surname, derived from the name of an ancestor, 'the son of Drew,' or 'Dm' (Drogo in Domesday). (Not related to Andrew!) Variants of this surname include: Drew, Drews & Drewes.
